The Virgin Islands Madras is more than a fabric — it’s a symbol of identity, heritage, and pride. Designed by renowned St. Croix textile artist Debbie Sun through a grant from the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts, the official USVI Madras was unveiled as a living tribute to the islands’ natural beauty and cultural soul.

Every color tells a story:

  • Turquoise — the crystal waters surrounding our islands
  • Royal Blue — the deep sea harbor
  • Pink — the beloved conch shell
  • White — sacks of flour, a staple of island life
  • Yellow — the Ginger Thomas, the Virgin Islands’ official flower
  • Green — our lush natural resources
  • Red — strength and love
